Timon Birkhofer is a Swiss-German Director & Writer based in Los Angeles.
Born to immigrant parents as the youngest of nine children, Timon grew up in Stuttgart, Germany.
During his first life as a musician, he started creating content for his own bands and other artists such as A-ha, AVICII, and The Weeknd.
His love for timeless storytelling helped Timon transition to advertising. Today, clients like Adidas, Ford, Porsche, the United Nations, National Geographic, UBS, and Salesforce trust his directorial approach to tell stories from the heart that inspire audiences of all ages and backgrounds.
Timon strongly believes that writing about oneself in the third person is silly - and he also would like to let you know that:
his films have garnered +2B views globally and were featured in The Hollywood Reporter, Variety, Deadline, Los Angeles Times, The New York Times, and even in his hometown newspaper Schorndorfer Nachrichten
he won awards ranging from Best Music Video at the LA Film Festival and other Oscar-qualifying film festivals to a Guitar Hero Championship resulting in touring with Metallica, Linkin Park, and The Prodigy, playing on a plastic guitar in front of millions of people
he was the only director invited to Epic Games’ inaugural fellowship on Virtual Production with the Unreal Engine
while attending grad school, he served as Director of Speakers for TEDx
he is a member of an actual space mission, filmed the NASA rover ‘Perseverance’ inside the clean room at the Jet Propulsion Lab, and loves collaborating with Bill Nye and the entire team at The Planetary Society, the world’s largest non-profit space organization, co-founded by Carl Sagan in 1980 (yes, they do accept donations here - thanks for asking!)
he launched Ability in Progress, an initiative to reframe disabilities in advertising
he is currently working on long-form narrative projects in Film & Television
more often than he’d like to admit, he accidentally uses German Wörter in otherwise English sentences.
